Join Professor Ned Hall and several current students to learn about the Intellectual Vitality program at Harvard. The students will also lead discussion section breakouts.

Professor Hall is the Norman E. Vuilleumier Professor of Philosophy and Co-President of the Council on Academic Freedom at Harvard. Here is a recent opinion piece Professor Hall wrote in the Crimson.

Our student TAs:

Ari Kohn is a sophomore in Leverett House concentrating in Social Studies, with a focus on International Political Economy. She is particularly interested in studying the dynamics between capitalism and democracy around the world, and the dangers facing society when ideals and interests do not align. She is also interested in how the ethical character of countries are developed and sustained. Outside of class, Ari is the student co-Chair of Intellectual Vitality initiatives. She hopes to strengthen the preconditions for dialogue at Harvard: radical curiosity and the premise of one another’s best intentions.

Jaya Nayar is a senior at the College studying Government and Philosophy in a joint concentration. Her thesis creates a new model of disagreement, which she calls deliberative disagreement, meant to help people gain a greater appreciation of the fact of pluralism through the activity of disagreeing. She was one of the original members of the intellectual vitality committee, was an Intercollegiate Civil Disagreement Fellow in the 22-23 academic year, and will be attending Harvard Law two years after graduation.

Nim Ravid is a junior at college studying economics and living in Kirkland House. Nim serves as the student representative on the Harvard President's Task Force to Combat Antisemitism and has been a member of the intellectual vitality group. Before Harvard, Nim worked as the spokesperson of the Head of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee in the Israeli Parliament and served as an officer in the Israeli Defence Force.
